Artist are Story Tellers

I got this wonderful gem (video) from The Drawing Board blog.  I love the view this woman has of the world and art.

The Inside to Celebration....Here Come The Sun..

A story and an art work have a beginning, a middle and a ending.  It is through the communication of the material that we adjust the story and it speaks to us and others.  It communes with us.  It doesn't matter if it effects our view the same way as others, nor really is it possible to for it truly to effect others the way it effected the creator.  Does a song from a song bird effect the bird the same way as those that hear it?  No, but it doesn't diminish the song.  An artist must create just like a song bird must sing.

We went to a Richie Havens concert in 2004 it was very emotional.

May we be healers, each one of us.

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who are alive.”  - Howard Thurman

So just like a new year, a new beginning, a new day, may we Come Alive.

  1. Hi ya. I'm way behind on my blog reading...I've spent most of the week at mom's dealing with furnace problems so I have to come back here and spend some time going through all this richness of information. Better put the pot on for coffee too. Thank you for sharing...

  3. Hi Enchanted Blue Planet,
I have to admit that I got that inspiration from Picasso. One of my goals is to develop more art appreciation, so I am studying an art text book. Picasso quote, "Everyone wants to understand art. Why not try to understand the song of a bird? Why does one love the night, flowers, everything around one, without trying to understand them? But in the case of a painting people have to understand. If only they would realize above all that an artist works of necessity, that he himself is only a trifling bit of the world and that no more importance should be attached to him than to plenty of other things which please us in the world, though we can't explain them. People who try to explain pictures are usually barking up the wrong tree."

Marie, I agree we will have to determine to be alive everyday.
